Adolescent Counseling

The adolescent years (middle school, high school, and college ages) are years of great opportunity, but sometimes the challenges and pressures become too heavy to carry alone. And sometimes parents or friends just can’t help either. Our therapists are able to develop solutions that can help guide young adults to overcome the obstacles they are facing. Learning the skills needed to live a balanced life is an investment in a teen’s future success.

Our counselors have training and experience counseling teens with issues such as:

  • peer relationship issues
  • cutting/self-harm
  • bullying
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • ADD/ADHD
  • academic stress
  • college preparation
  • parental issues
  • failure to launch
  • gaming addiction
  • pornography use
  • drug/alcohol use
  • sibling rivalry
  • divorce,
  • moving homes
  • major illness
  • grief or loss
  • life transitions

We believe that rapport between the therapist and young adult is vital to the overall success of counseling and we strive to create a therapeutic environment that is youth-friendly. Our counselors generally use cognitive-behavioral and family systems approaches in working with adolescents, but we will tailor our approach to each specific situation.

Sometimes parents also need help navigating adolescence with their teens. We would welcome the opportunity to help middle school, high school, and college students and their families enjoy and thrive through these critical years.
